A heritage that shows itself !
Suspended signs, made of wrought iron or wood, or inscribed on the walls of the houses themselves. They indicate to the passer-by the nature of the businesses, or the presence of craftsmen sometimes invisible from the street. They are coming back in fashion, like in the village of Billio, who has chosen to put them on all its streets, thanks to a local artist who reinvented them.
Lintels, architectural elements used to support the walls above an opening, often indicate the occupation of the inhabitant or owner. But they can be richly decorated with symbols and there is sometimes the date of construction of the building ...
